  • Hierarchical decision model for the patient's long term clinical status after hip arthroplasty
    Božikov, Krešimir ...
The objective of this research was to buils a model to determine the patient'slong term clinical status following and implantation of hip endoprosthesis. Medical records of patients treated for acute ... medial femoral neck fractures with hip endoprosthesis were analyzed. The long term clinical status of the patients several years after the hip arthroplasty was determinedusing the Hariis hip score. The factors were organized into sementically meaningful groups, and for each group an intermediate factor was introduced by an expert. Several levels of intermediate factors were defined, resulting in a hierarchiacal decision model having Harris hip score (the outcome) at its root. The modeling process was supported by the multyattributedecision support system DEX. The hierarchical model takes into account many different factors that influence the patient's long term clinicalstatus after hip arthroplasty. The particular approach propose, which combines expert's knowledge and completes the model by industion from data, was found beneficial. Following are most important factors in terms of their influence to Hariis hip score: patient's status before injury, the timing of operation, and the type of endoprosthesis (in this order).
