Different methods of collecting data for reverse engineering

The development of various measuring technologies has enabled different methods of reverse engineering. Toay, contact measuring of dimensions yields accurate and cost efficient results. Certain ...disadvanteges of contact measurement gave rise to the devlopement of non-contact measurements. This paper presents a comparison of two different reverse engineering methods based on the manner of colleting measuring data. The first method is based on the use of a coordinate measuring machine, while the second one uses 3D optical scanning. Both methods are performed on the same test part.
