Custom made seating unit

University Rehabilitation Institute, Republic of Slovenia as the main rehabilitation institution is the only one where sophisticated wheelchairs and technical aids of tertiary level can be prescribed ...and applicated to users. This is a very specific area where client-centred team approach is essential, especially when the user needs custom made seating unit mounted on a special frame. When choosing the most appropriate seating unit it is necessary to take into account impairment of body structures and functions, user's participation in activities of daily life, the level of the assistance he needs and environment in which he lives. The article describes the entire manufacturing process of such seating unit from evaluation of user's impairments, taking measurements, including pressure mapping in order to avoid further complications.
