  • Magnesium anisotropic material flow at applied plastic deformation
Kobold, Dominik ; Pepelnjak, Tomaž ; Hančič, Aleš
Magnesium alloys have been recognised as important alternative for applications where weight is the most important feature. Nowadays casting process is the most frequently technique used for ... production of magnesium components. Due to limited mechanical properties of casted components, forging process could be appreciated alternative for production of magnesium structural components. Despite big potential, forging or plastic deformation of magnesium alloys is rarely used due to their specific deformation characteristics and anisotropic behaviour. Paper reveals anisotropic behaviour of magnesium wrought alloy AZ80 during applied plastic deformation. Case studies where consequences of anisotropic influence on material flow are shown. In the paper anisotropic behaviour during applied plastic deformation of AZ80 alloy is accurately described.
