  • The practical aspects of primary energy performance benchmarking of buildings [Elektronski vir]
Prek, Matjaž ; Lampret, Žiga ; Krese, Gorazd
Buildings consume a significant quantity of energy from many sources and in various ways. The primary energy indicator is typically used to evaluate and assess energy usage on a regular common basis. ... It is also applied for assessing sustainable resource management and evaluating political and economic decisions about technological solutions. In this paper, various methods for determining primary energy are presented. Despite a reasonably clear thermodynamic definition, the question of how to compare and evaluate different energy sources and types of energy, beside political and economic decisions, emerges. This research focuses on determining the evaluation boundary, which serves as the foundation for energy ratings and minimum performance criteria, and how to consider the spatial-temporal features of energy supply and demand when converting it to primary energy.
