Computer as a didactic aid in the process of physical education in school

Fast technological progress in the world requires also modernisation of educational technology. Thus the computer is becoming indispensable also in the process of physical education. The aim of this ...research project was to find out how physical education teachers keep up with fast technological progress and if they are sufficiently acquainted with possibilities of application of modern educational technology in physical education process. The sample consisted of Slovenian primary and secondary schoolteachers. All together we have questioned 210 teachers from 210 different schools. The sample represents 30% of all schools in Slovenia. Schools were randomly chosen from the list of all schools in Slovenia. With specially created questionnaire we have tried to gather as much information as possible about where, when and how do the teachers use computers and if, during their regular study they have become well acquainted with programs used in practice. The data were processed on Faculty of Sport, Ljubljana, with statistical package SPSS for Windows. Basic statistical parameters (subprogram Frequencies) were counted. The results exposed that computer has been used by many teachers. The most often it is applied for pedagogical work planning, the least for statistical analysis of various data. The teachers use the Internet and e-mail quite often, which proves that they follow the world trends.
