  • Predlog izboljšave delovanja biološke čistilne naprave za tehnološke odpadne vode iz mesno predelovalne industrije - Pivka perutninarstvo d. d.
    Krek, Boštjan, 1972-
The Republic of Slovenia has a modern, developed meat-processing industry. Theproduction activities of this industry create industrial waste waters whichin most instances are unsuitable processed in ... purification facilities before they are released into the sewage system, surface waters or the underground aquifer. Most existing purification facilities in this industry are outdated, or their purification capacities are too small given the quantity and quality of waste waters. Due to the large quantities and the loading of waste waters with contaminants, the legislator (the Ministry of theEnvironment and Physical Planning of R Slovenia) decided to attempt to change the situation and therefore issued (and continues to issue) a range of regulations which gives limit values of parameters of waste waters for direct drainage into surface waters andžor the sewage system. The nutrients alone arenot offensive in normal concentrationsč however, if natural conditions permit, the growth of algae or other plants causes the formation of an organicsource in the receiving water creating a potential demand on the oxygenresources of the natural water. Eutrophication in freshwater includes a series of processes that alter the ecosystems significantly. An increased nutrient input causes a stepwise change in productivity, with phytoplankton biomass increase being one of the most obvious effect. Eutrophication iniates a web of processes. Phytoplankton biomass may cause increased sedimentation oforganic matter following a bloom that may result in enrichment in the sediment. As a result, anoxia may develop in stratified and stagnant areas. Therefore, it is very important that wastewaterćs are treated before they are released into recipient. The third step of wastewater purification processes decreases the probability for eutrophication. (Abstract truncated at 2000 characters)
