  • Determination of polysaccharide functional groups creating antimicrobial properties [Elektronski vir]
    Fras Zemljič, Lidija
This research covers the several approaches to cellulose fibre functionalization using amino-polysaccharides. Our main objective was to analyse the influence of specific functional groups on the ... final bioactive fibre properties. Thus, titration methods were transferred and developed (modified) for the characterisation of cellulose fibre functionalizations using polysaccharides; with emphasis on chitosan. The amount of fibre functional groups was determined using potentiometric and conductometric titrations. The results clearly show that amino groupsć quantity is responsible for antimicrobial properties of functionalised fibres.
