Greenhouse gases CH4, CO2, N2O and its emissions to the atmosphere from soil in controlled environment with emphasis on N2O : master thesisJovičević Klug, PatriciaEmissions of greenhouse gasses, such as methane (CH4), carbon dioxide (CO2) and nitrous oxide (N2O), have a great potential on global warming and soil-atmospheric interactions in agricultural soil ... chemistry. Application of nitrification inhibitors, such as DCD, ENTEC%, PIADIN%; to the soil is an option to mitigate the greenhouse gas emissions from soil into the atmosphere. In this study, two soil incubation experiments were carried out at two different temperatures (15°C and 25°C) at constant water holding capacity of 80%, with ammonium sulfate chosen fertilizer applied on silty sandy soil with acidic characteristics (pH of 5.7). Furthermore, concentrations of NH4+/NO3- were measured and, in addition, the isotope ratio of nitrogen and carbon were also monitored. Contrasting effects of different nitrification inhibitors were observed under the same experimental conditions and also with different temperature setup. ENTEC%, as the most efficient and recommended nitrification inhibitor on the current market, was efficient at lower temperature (15°C). But at higher experimental temperature (25°C), had 4.5-fold higher emissions compared to control treatment. DCD and PIADIN% proofed to be the most efficient nitrification inhibitors in both sets. Measured concentrations of NH4+/NO3- provided important information on which soil Ntransforming process, nitrification or denitrification, was pre-dominated under selected conditions. Emissions from acidic soils appears to be depended on soil NO3- content, as higher greenhouse gasses emissions were observed in early second phase of the setup and significantly lower N2O fluxes were obtained in the later third phase of the experiment. In addition, isotope values of nitrogen and carbon provided no significant change.Type of material - master's thesis ; adult, seriousPublication and manufacture - Kiel : [P.
