The progressive success of cochlear implant has shown the need for high resolution thin section imaging in the preoperative and postoperative assesment of suitable candidates. The anatomic structure ...of temporal bone are easily seen on CT images and 3DFTCISS weighted MRI images preformed with 1,0 mm thick slices. Each technique is most indicated in some distinct anomalies, whereas in other indications they provide complementary or identical information. Both diagnostic procedures are very simple and painless for the candidat. Information provided by analysis of these images is used to find thecause of deafness, exclude candidates in whom implantation is likely unsuccessful and help to select the best ear for implantation.
