Film reviews [Elektronski vir] : cross-cultural aspects of a textual genre

The paper concentrates on some general problems of genre theory in the field of text linguistics, such as the limits of the classification of texts into genres (and subgenres) and their nature as a ...culture-bound or cross-cultural phenomenon. It then goes on to discuss how the systemic-functional model of genre and register is equipped to deal with such problems. Using this model, the textual genre of film review is described in the cross-cultural context, with particular reference to the comparison between English and Slovene film reviews.
