  • Self-cleaning ability of polyester fabric modified by Ti▫$O_2$▫ nanoparticles [Elektronski vir]

    During the presented study, colloidal suspensions containing anatase TiO2 nanoparticles were applied onto the polyester fabric (PES) according to pad-dry-cure procedure. The type and the ... concentration of suspensions were varied as well as the operational parameters, i.e. curing time and temperature. The morphological structures of the prepared pastes as well as nano-modified PES fabrics were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Furthermore, the photocatalytic activity of used TiO2 nanoparticles deposited on the fabric was followed by a discolouration of two coloured stains, i.e. red wine and red beet, under two UV source of irradiation (photoreactor with 8 UV lamps - 4 UVA and 4 UVB and direct day light exposure) in different time intervals by means of colour measurement. The obtained results show acceptable self-cleaning ability of TiO2 modified PES fabrics governed by the reactants concentration and exposure time.
