  • Nacionalno in nadnacionalno državljanstvo v razmerah demokracije : pravno-politični diskurz o evropskem državljanstvu
    Kuhelj, Alenka
The traditional term of citizenship is a term of the State, the Nation and thePeoplehood. In this context, European citizenship has a special status. EU citizenship, signifying the ownership of equal ... political rights, looks forward to the presence of a democratic order. The following two key values make Union citizenship most valuable: 1. citizenship most tangibly reinforces the individual`s sentiment of belonging to the Union, and 2. citizenship confers right on individual citizens which tie them to the Union. But nevertheless, even today the relationship between European citizenship and the political body to which it expresses the status of memebership remains unclear.
