  • Nekatere značilnosti uvedbe dejavnosti v osnovnem zdravstvu Slovenije = Some characteristics of the implementation of private practice in Slovenian primary health care
    Kofol-Bric, Tatjana
The delivery of health care through private practice has again been possible in Slovenia since 1992. This paper describes the emergence of private health care practitioners throughout Slovenia up to ... 1999. Based on data available in the Health Care Providers' Database in June 2000, the influence of profession, type of care, region of employment, sex and age on the decision of physicians and dentists to work in primary health care through private practice is discussed. The data source was determined to be adequate. It was found that private practice is more common among dentists, and less among physicians but with differences in accord with type of service. The percentageof private health care practitioners in Slovenia varies from region to region and is significantly higher in the Koper region and signiflcantly lower in the Novo mesto region. Men are more interested for private practice, and the average age is 2 years older in the population of private health care practitioners compered to physicians and dentists employed in public institutions. The results should be taken into account when planing for the further development of private practice. The different percentages of private practitioners among types of setvice and in various Slovenian regions need to be considered as well in evaluation of the effectiveness of health care.
