  • Uporabniki prepovedanih drog, vključeni v vzdrževalni metadonski program ind njihova vozniška sposobnost : diplomska naloga = Illegal drugs users, attending methadone recovery programme and their driving ability : graduation thesis
    Koser-Zore, Majda
Drug abuse is one of the major national health and social problems all over the world as well as in Slovenia. Problems of driving after drug use are cc`nnected with fmding out the driver's abilities ... to operate a motor vehicle safely at the time of a car crash or police control, as well as checking medical conditions prior to getting a valid driving licence. The study was performed on a group of representatives, attending methadone recovery programme, who have passed their driving test and have already operated a motor vehicle. The majority of the patients from the methadone recovery programme reported they had used different illegal drugs regularly or occasionally prior to driving already at the times before obtaining their driving license. The survey fmdings show a very subjective opinion of the patients on their driving ability while being in the methadone recovery programme. The majority of them thought they were able to get a driving licence while being on methadone therapy. They did not feel that methadone useimpaired their driving ability. Operating any rnotor vehicle after methadone use is prohibited by law in Slovenia. This arise an important question on driving abilities of drug addicts in the methadone recovery programme. An expert-oriented research on whether they are able or not to takepart in everyday trafftc as drivers operating motor vehicles should find this out. If so, it should be defined under what conditions and circumstances they are allowed to operate a motor vehicle.
