Today, we are witnessing an increasing number of people who are hypersensitive or allergic to certain foods or some ingredient in food. EU food safety regulations define the obligation of food ... producers to declare food and indicate all ingredients, including components that may cause food allergies and intolerances. Consumers need to be informed about food when shopping and consuming it. The information must be clear and correct. It is mandatory to label allergens in the list of ingredients and to further emphasize it with the use of types of letters that are clearly different from the type of letter of other ingredients, for example, letters, styles, or background colors. The provision of proper food information at the EU level is regulated by Regulation (EC) No. 1307/2009. Due to the increasing supply of different foods, the diet has become more or less of high quality. Eating habits are determined by the interaction of food choice options, upbringing h abits, and the someone’s preference. The state of health affects the quality of nutrition, just as eating habits affect the health status of individuals and populations. In order to determine the correlation between eating habits and the incidence of food-related allergies and intolerances, it is necessary to collect numerous data points from the population. Food consumption data are an essential part of assessing exposure to food ingredients. The availability of reliable data on food consumption is essential for assessing consumer exposure and is at the core of monitoring eating habits in individual countries. In order to assess the incidence of hypersensitivity to food ingredients, compare it with other countries in the region, and create public health preventive policies, it is necessary to have a national database. For now, there are papers and research on certain segments of the impact of eating habits on the incidence of allergies in the Republic of Croatia, but there is no complete database and, in a uniform.
