The effect of 2,4D and change of medium on microspore culture of cabbage (Brassica oleracea var. capitata L.)

Microspore culture was performed on the cabbage (Brassica oleracea var. capitata L.) cultivar 'Hawke'. The tested hormones (2,4D and NAA) had a negative effect on embryogenesis compared with hormone ...free media. Embryo yields increased markedly (400% increase) if the culture medium was changed after 1 day of culture. Part of the possitive effect is due to culturing the equiavalent of 4 petry dishes (25 buds) in a 50 ml erlenmayer flask for 1 day prior to the exchange of medium.
