    Effects of bubble-induced flow agitation on heat transfer enhancement in vertical laminar duct flows were examined numerically using an interface tracking method. It was confirmed that(1) ... bubble-induced flow agitation enhances the net wall heat transfer, (2) bubbles in a thermal boundary layer are more effective for the enhancement than bubbles outside the layer, (3) when bubbles are located inside the layer, the heat transferis more enhanced as the temperature gradient in the layer increases, and (4) when bubbles are located outside the layer, spherical-cap bubbles are more effective for the enhancement than spherical bubbles.
