Voicing older people’s problems through parliamentary election years 2004-2018 [Elektronski vir]Gerdina, Otto ; Čož, SinjaThis article presents the results of a comprehensive study of news coverage on old age and related problems in the main national newspaper of Slovenia, Delo, during five parliamentary election years ... stretching over the period 2004-2018. The content and news source analyses showed the prevalence of politically salient issues on the institutional aspects of ageing over the diverse challenges faced by older people, as well as the prevalence of elite sources on most topics related to older people’s problems. We observe a change in the distribution of topics from unequal to more levelled over the years. Structure of topics that relate to old age and older people neglects areas that are increasingly important for forming strategies and solutions for a more equal participation of older people in the society.
