Mikrobiologov pogled na akutno in kronično rano = View of microbiologists to acute and cronical woundsGubina, MarijaAn infection poses a permanent threat of poor wound healing. Quantitative and qualitative microbiology of wound can be investigated by sampling either woundtissue or wound fluid. The material from ... wound has to be obtained aseptically and put in a sterile tube, but swab of wound have to be lay down into transport medium. All specimens must be delivered into laboratory as soonas possible or at the latest within 24 hours. At the Institute for Microbiology and Immunology Medical Faculty in Ljubljana, 4399 swabs ob woundswere investigate In the period of a year, from February 7. 2005 to February 8. 2006. In those wounds, the most frequently isolated were staphylococci in 39.8% (Staphylococcus aureus in 21.3% and coagulase negative staphylococci in 18.5%), followed by Pseudomonas aeruginosa with 9.4%, Escherichia coli in 4.7% and Streptococcus pyogenes in 1.2%. Anaerobes diagnosed in those wounds were from familles Peptostreptococcus, Clostridium in Bacteroides. In this group were also 115 strains of MRSA (methicillin resistant S. aureus) amounting to 10.1% of S. aureus strains from wounds. In the same period a group of 465 swabs of chronical wounds were analysed too andP. aeruginosa was the most frequently isolated. When the material is taken aseptically from acute inflammed wound before an antibiotic treatment was induced and transport to the laboratorium is performed in the shortest time, we can expect a result which provides for an effective and quick measure towards healing of the wound.Source: Sodobni pristopi k zdravljenju akutne in kronične rane (Str. 28-45)Type of material - conference contributionPublish date - 2006Language - slovenianCOBISS.SI-ID - 21146329
