This paper investigates the properties of injection grouts with different amounts of natural hydraulic lime replacement by metakaolin. The raw materials were characterised by means of X-ray ...fluorescence spectroscopy (XRF) and nitrogen adsorption (BET surface area). The fresh grout properties, such as bleeding, volume change, and water retention, were studied in order to evaluate the stability of the mixtures, porosity was studied by means of mercury intrusion porosimetry (MIP), and the compressive strength of the hardened grouts were determined. The results of the tests showed that a higher content of metakaolin increases the water demand of the fresh mixtures, as well as compressive strength and porosity. The adding of metakaolin at constant fluidity slightly enhanced water retention, but had no significant effect on volume change and bleeding. When comparing the two different metakaolins that were used, higher compressive strengths were measured in the case of the grouts which included the metakaolin with a higher BET surface area.
