  • Pomen intermediarnih filamentov pri določevanju histogeneze ledvičnega adenokarcinoma = The significance of intermediate filaments for histogenetic determination of renal cell carcinoma
    Ovčak, Zdenka
Due to various histologic patterns and very often unpredictable biologic behaviour of renal cell carcinomas, the exact classification and definition of their histogenesis are of great importance. ... This is possible by means of studying the expression of intermediate filaments. Their structure is more or less specific for different cell types and does not change during carcinogenesis. The results of immunohistochemical studies of intermediate filaments suggest that chromophobe cell carcinoma and renal oncocytoma represent separate entities of kidney tumors, probably originating from the collecting ducts. The occasional expression of vimentin in the renal cell carcinoma corresponds with the mesodermal origin of the kidney, showing also the regressive antigenic phenotype of less differentiated tumors.
