Cell-mediated immunity in primary goutRovensky, J... ...The number of T-lymphocytes (active and total) revealed significant individual differences in 36 percent of the cases during acute gouty attack. Statistically significant differences were found in ... the number of theophylline-sensitive T-lymphocytes at the time of acute gouty attack, 7 days post attack, and in the intercritical stage, in comparison with the control group of healthy persons. The number of theophyllineresistent T-lymphocytes was significantly increased only at the time of acute gouty attack and 7 days post attack. In the intercritical stage of gout, the number of theophyllineresistent T-lymphocytes did not differ from the control group. After stimulation of lymphocytes with mitogens (PHA and ConA), we found a statistically significantly increased response in arthritis urica patients. The results of testing the lymphocyte subpopulations in peripheral blood using monoclonal antibodies showed an increase in the relative number of CD4 lymphocytes induced by the increased number of helper inducers (CD4+/C4SRA-). Our results demonstrate that in the acute and intercritical stages of primary gout T-lymphocytes are involved in the immunopathogenetic mechanisms, probably via lymphokine release by urate stimulation.Source: New European rheumatology. - ISSN 1318-248X (Letn. 1, št. 2, 1993, str. 4-7)Type of material - article, component partPublish date - 1993Language - englishCOBISS.SI-ID - 2648537
