Thermal water purification

The objective of this article is the purification of special thermal water (TW) that contains potentially toxic organic micropollutants like benzene, toluene, mesitylene and xylene, all of geogene ...origin. Although the use of granular acivated carbon (GAC) adsorption is well known in potable and waste water treatment, and also in industrial water polishing, there is no information on its use in the purification of TW. The result of our purification using GAC absorption is a bathing water quality that corresponds to the requirements of DIN 19643. After this treatment, TW reaches the hygienic quality of drinking water and can be used for balneological properties.
