  • Being present [Elektronski vir] : mindfulness in psychotherapy
    Žvelc, Gregor
In this workshop, I will illustrate the importance of being in present moment for both psychotherapist and the client. I will connect the integrative psychotherapy concept of presence with current ... research on mindfulness and ideas of Daniel Stern. Participants will have opportunity the to experience mindfulness exercises and connect them with theory of integrative psychotherapy and transactional analysis. I will introduce a new concept of Mindful Adult, which describes the process of awareness of the present moment with acceptance. Being in Mindful Adult ego state means that we are present in the moment, receptive to whatever experience arises and accepting it without judgment or evaluation. The goal of the therapist is to become mindful of what is going in relationship between client and therapist and to promote mindfulness in the client. This can help the client to stay with unpleasant experience without avoiding it or being overwhelmed with it. The aim is to observe what is happening in the moment-to-moment awareness from a third person perspective. Such activation of Mindful Adult ego state can provide the change and restructuring of script beliefs and promote integration of dissociated ego states. The workshop will include experiential mindfulness exercises.
