Various oxide aerogels as supports for Pd-catalysts prepared with the use of supercritical C▫$O_2$▫

The preparation and characterization of various aerogels of metal oxides (Si▫$O_2$▫, A▫$l_2$▫▫$O_3$▫, Ti▫$O_2$▫), binary oxides as catalyst supports, and NiO and Pd catalysts supported on various ...aerogels is presented. The preparation of aerogels includes several steps: sol-gel synthesis, drying and finally, thermal treatment. Excellent properties of aerogels, obtained with the sol-gel synthesis, were preserved with supercritical drying. Due to this fact, supercritical drying was carried out at the conditions above the binary critical curve of the solvent - C▫$O_2▫$, where the solvent and C▫$O_2▫$ are completely miscible. All produced arogels were characterized by means of nitrogen physiosorption at 77K, single point BET surface area measurements (adsorpion of argon-nitrogen gas mixture), X-ray diffraction and thermal analyses.
