  • Bioreactor design for lipase catalyzed reactions in dense gases

    A kinetic model that describes the esterification of oleic acid and oleyl alcohol catalyzed with lipase from Rhizomucor miehei in supercritical carbon dioxide has been constructed. The ... Michaelis-Menten constant ▫$K_m$▫ and maximal velocity ▫$V^{max}$▫ were estimated by fitting the model with experimental data obtained under various process conditions. The model has been extended for the immobilized enzyme system by taking into account that there is no mass transfer resistance. Initial reaction rates, temperature and pressure studies were used to provide the initial kinetics parameters that, when combined with the effect of enzime, were done to predict product composition and reaction time under different reaction conditions.
