The zooplankton of the coastal waters in the NE Gulf of Triest
Malej, Alenka, 1948-
Seasonal and spatial zooplankton dynamics in the Gulf of Triest are discussed. The zooplankton of investigated area is typically neritic, species with high ecological tolerance are dominating. Except ...in summer the prevailinggroup are copepods, the important species are Acartia clausi, Paracalanus parvus, Oithona spp., Oncaea spp., while in summer the cladoceran Penilia avirostris is predominant. Besides the mentioned species the important contribution to the zooplankton of investigated area is given by larvae of benthic organisms, especialy by larvae of molluscs and echinoderms, as well as typically neritic species Muggiaea kochi, Podon polyphemoides, Oikopleura longicauda, Sagitta setosa.
