Sprachliche Höflichkeitsformen im Deutschen und im Albanischen : Vergleich unterschiedlicher Kulturen

This paper describes forms of linguistic politeness in German and their equivalents in the Albanian language. Language is an important communication tool, which serves not only to realize and ...maintain communication but which is also used to express emotions and needs. The phenomenon of politeness between people of different cultures has been greatly discussed in recent years. In the field of linguistics, politeness is understood as good behaviour that offends no one. The aim of this study is to compare polite and impolite linguistic behaviour in German-speaking Switzerland and in the Albanian-speaking area in Macedonia. I will focus primarily on the attitudes towards language as well as attitudes and behaviours of both groups of speakers - that is, German-speaking Swiss people and Albanian-speaking people of Macedonia. Since there have been no previous contrastive studies on linguistic politeness in German and Albanian, this study can be regarded as pioneering in this field.
