Adverbials with the present perfect in BrE and AmE

Our research has confirmed the difference between two varieties in the use of certain adverbials, which are claimed to be in the domain of the present perfect. In AmE some adverbials are frequently ...used with the preterit with no change of meaning. The difference derives from different conceptualization of situations and adverbials and thus has some relevance to teaching English.
