Tugomer v slovenski literaturi : diplomska naloga

The name Tugomer can be found in Slovenian drama of four authors. The history of Polabian Slavs, which dates back to the 10th century, was first attracted by Josip Jurčič. Because he had heard some ...criticism of the drama by his colleagues, he came to Fran Levstik. Hoping to improve his prose version, a new, different and verified work was formed. Seventy years after Levstik's drama, the subject matter interested Bratko Kreft. He changed the work in his own way; he spread some segments of the text and thereby shed new light on Levstik's tragedy. Last of the authors, Vili Ravnjak, digressed from Levstik and Kreft and took Jurčič's original as an example. With his dramatic prose ballad, as he called it, he went the furthest of all the authors. The topic was tackled in a new, more modern way. In this thesis, we will focus on concrete analyses of Jurčič's, Levstik's, Kreft's and Ravnjak's dramas. Chronologically, from the first to the last, the four eponyomus texts will be treated. We will try to discover where the authors got the idea to approach the topic of the history of Polabian Slavs, how they set to work and what their main characters are like. Their inner impulses will be highlighted and we will find out what is that leads the four heroes on their way. Each work will be analysed in detail, we will stress the personalities of the more prominent characters, and compare the works. In particular, the dialogues of female heroines will be shown and we will try to determine the active role that they play in the dramas. We will analyse in detail specific dramatic events and scenes and look for similarities and differences between them. In the end, for better insight, the last words of all four Tugomers will be shown. Their meaning is very strong and they present a summary of everything that pushed all four main characters in life.
