  • Illusion and reality in Christina Stead's novels For love alone and Cotter's England = Iluzija in realnost v romanih Christine Stead For love alone in Cotter's England : diplomsko delo
    Snoj, Alenka, 1975-
Human psyche is a wide-ranging topic and has been explored extensively by scientists, psychologists, doctors and, of course, artists. Observing human character (ego) and travelling vast distances in ... the world of human (sub)consciousness were the main preoccupations in Christina Stead's literary opus as well. Her novels For Love Alone and Cotter's England portray the lives and characters of two women who share several unfortunate circumstances in life, yet each of them approaches the trials of life in an entirely different way.The objective of this thesis is to compare both protagonists' perception of illusion and reality in order to determine their progression in life. Since both books are mainly concerned with the psychological aspects of an individual, the emphasis will be put on the illusory expectations and their effect on each protagonist's inner (mental and emotional) growth.
