  • The spatial and temporal variability of hydrological processes in mountainous areas
    Peschke, G.
Hydrological processes depend heavily on different controlling factors. Amongst these influencing factors the topography, the soils and the vegetation show a high degree of spatial heterogeneity. ... However hydrological processes are primarily driven by meteorological variables governed by a considerable temporal variability. In particular in mountainous regions this results in an extreme spatial and temporal variability of the hydrologic environment which complicates all problems associated with spatial predictions. Therefore it seems to be necessary to investigate the involved interaction to quantify this spatial and temporal variability and to collect data sets for calibration and validation of hydrological models and other scaling procedures
