Core loss calculation in electrical machines

The paper describes modelling and calculation of iron core losses in rotational electrical machines. For iron loss calculation the iron loss model is used together with the information on local flux ...density variation in the machine components obtained by the 2D finite method (2D FEM). Coefficients of hysteresis, classical eddy-current and excess losses, which appear in the above mentioned iron loss model, were determined from iron loss measurement and iron loss separation of used magnetic matreial under pure alternating and rotational flux conditions. With the intention to verify the proposed calculation approach, the results of iron loss calculation were compared with the experimental results obtained in the case of the four pole interior permanent magnet synchronous motor, working in steady state conditions over a broad range of loads, supply conditions and speeds.
