Non-aqueous capillary electrophoresis for the simultaneous analysis of solasodine and solasonine

A capillary electrophoresis method for the simultaneous determination of steroidal alkaloid solasodine and the derived glycoside solasonine in plant samples has been developed. Because of the low ...solubvility of solasodine in water and in water: ethanol solutions, a non aqueous buffer (600 mM acetic acid, 10 mM sodium hydroxide in methanol) was utililized. The signal was measured at 200 nm and the detection limit of solasodine was 8mg/L. The methodis fast, simple and precise, nd good separations were obtaine eith the crude plant extracts. The influence of sodium and chloride ions in the sample matrix on the performance of the method is discussed.
