Nova teorija fazne strukture volne = New theory of wool phase structureJakšić, DaniloNaša teorija fazne strukture volne temelji na negiranju domneve, da se v procesu raztezanja volnenega vlakna alfa oblika transformira v beta obliko. Ta negacija sloni na dejstvu trodimenzionalnosti ... interne strukture volnenega vlakna. Odvijanje sekundarnih zavojev alfa vijačnic ovirajo močne prečne kovalentne cistinske in druge vezi, česar se ne da ignorirati. Poleg tega so pri razvoju teorije fazne strukture volne upoštevana mehanizem rasti in fazne transformacije v formiranju (rasti) volnenega vlakna. Pri rasti volnenega vlakna se beta oblika molekul transformira v alfa obliko in v teh pogojih ni prostora za neorientirano amorfno fazo - matriks. Za kvantificiranje alfa faze je vzet "9+2" model aranžmana protofibrilov v mikrofibril, v kateri alfa kristalinična faza zavzame le 40 % prostornine. Snope volnenih vlaken smo raztezali s hitrostjo 0,63 %/min v vreli vodi do 120 %. Pri določenih intervalih raztezka smo snemali difraktograme in izračunali stopnjo kristaliničnosti v odvisnosti od raztezka. Pri neraztegnjeni volni smo dobili 57,2 % stopnjo kristaliničnosti. Od tega smo 40 % (ali nekaj manj - alfa faza ima manjšo gostoto kot beta faza) pripisali alfa kristalinični fazi in 17,2 % ali nekaj več pa beta kristalinični fazi, ki se v procesu rasti volnenega vlakna ni transformirala v alfa obliko. Predpostavili smo, da pri 120 % raztezku ni več alfa kristalinične faze. Pri 120 % smo ugotovili, da je stonja kristaliničnosti 39,3 %, kar pomeni, da se je na novo tvorilo 22,1 % beta faze iz molekul, ki so bile v konglomeratu z molekulami v katere so vgrajeni ostanki cikličnih aminokislin in cistina, teh pa je okrog 20,7 %. Domnevamo, da na rentgenogramu ni ekvatorialnega refleksa na medravninski razdalji 0,465 nm zaradi relativno majhne količine beta faze, nepopolne orientiranosti in zaradi tega, ker je ta refleks maskiran z difuznim prstanom na približno 0,46 nm.
