Nemško-slovenski glosar s področja meteorologije [Elektronski vir] : diplomsko delo

The main objective of my thesis was to create a German-Slovenian encyclopaedic glossary of meteorological terminology. Although weather and climate, being part of the meteorology science, have a ...direct impact on our everyday life, it proved many misinterpretations of very general meteorological terms exist in our day-to-day communication. In the thesis, I take a closer look at the specialised language in the field of meteorology and provide a short introduction to meteorology by describing weather and climate as well as by illuminating weather processes and phenomena. Further, different types of glossaries are described with an emphasis on electronic and encyclopaedic glossaries. An entire chapter is dedicated to describing the purpose of the glossary and to determining potential users. The glossary comprises a relatively broad selection of meteorological terms, including collocations, and additional encyclopaedic information providing the user with the necessary knowledge necessary for understanding and thus correctly applying the desired terminology. Considering this, the German-Slovenian encyclopaedic glossary of meteorological terminology is aimed at writers lacking specific scientific knowledge in the field, and primarily to translators and reviewers dealing with meteorological texts. By providing encyclopaedic information it can be used for decoding as well as encoding purposes.
