The role of lexical context with mutiple meaning nouns using Google Translate [Elektronski vir] = Vloga leksikalnega konteksta pri večpomenskih samostalnikih pri uporabi Google Translate : diplomsko deloKozak, AnžeOnline translation tools are a part of everyday. In only a second, a full web-page is translated to the language of your choosing. One of most often used tool for the job is Google Translate. With ... corrections and input from user and by analysing vast amounts of text, it is capable of producing increasingly better results. A 500 million user base is a good indicator of that. But there are possible downsides to the magic translator. I focused on one potential weakness of Google Translate and with it statistical machine translators in general. By testing multiple meaning nouns in similar sentences and replacing only certain words within them, I tried to find out whether Google Translate deals with lexical context recognition and to what extent. The evaluation was done on how well the engine recognised the correct contextual meaning of the multiple meaning noun within a sentence. Google Translate fared well in certain examples, did moderately on others and failed completely in some. There was little to conclude in terms of patterns, the engine proved thoroughly unpredictable. The conclusion made was that even though Google Translate is capable of taking lexical context into consideration, there is no indication whether it will do it well or badly, if at all.Type of material - undergraduate thesis ; adult, seriousPublication and manufacture - Ljubljana : [A.
