The assessment of the creditworthiness of an enterprise in the knowledge economy [Elektronski vir] : session 4: Management

ǂThe ǂpaper focuses on creditworthiness assessment of a contemporary enterprise in the new so-called knowledge economy for the need of strategic management. The attention is paid on the recent ...methodolgy because complexity and other relations makes the established metodologies (based on conventional financial information and ratio analysis) disputable. Considering the broader theoretical foundation, especially trends in the theory of the firm and the evolving value-based management concepts, the performance measurement and assessment of creditworthiness could be more important and reliable tool in the knowledge economy. For that purpose the paper focuses on the knowledge-based theory of the enterprise and knowledge management as a basis for development of additional criteria for creditworthiness assessment. Moreover, in the analysis of the enterprise performance it is crucial to develop qualitative indicators of measurement. Knowledge and other kinds of intellectual capital are one of the additional qualitative indicators, which should be stressed and measured, in overall estimation of creditworthiness of the enterprise. The main question is how to measure these qualitative criteria which importance is much higher in the risky world of leadership and management. Today's generation of entrepreneurs, owners and managers are more aware of the importance of knowing their business partners and personal credibility, especially for strategic decision-making. The critical questions are being addressed to criteria and the kind of information needed. In the paper we discussed such criteria and established a model of creditworthiness especially suitable to the enterprises, which are still in transitional period of economy. This research is based on theoretical approach and empirical research based on data of the enterprises in Slovenia and Croatia. In the research we developed a model of creditworthiness assessment based on knowledge economy approach.
