Implementation of a cellular phone terminal in transportation processes as a function of traffic safety improvement [Elektronski vir]

Cellular phone terminals as one of the essential communication units in transportation processes enable a wide range of services that are still not entirely in use. Intelligent transportation systems ...that include cellular phone technology enable two-way communication between the user (the driver) and the traffioc information center. In this way it is possible to transmitt relevant information information into a vehicle where it can be processed by the in-vehicle intelligent safety systems. Furthermore, information can be sent in the opposite direction to the traffc center in case of critical circumstances and emergency calls. This paper studies the advantages of such systems and their impact on traffic safety. As a result, the need to integrate cellular phone terminals in the form of a base communication-identification in-vehicle unit is evodent. This concept enables continuous operation of the cellular terminal as well as undisturbed information-data flows.Likewise, the safety aspect of connecting cellular phone terminals with other in-vehicle communication systems *radio, GPS Navigation, etc.) wil be analysed.
