The study consists of the two parts. Forty VDU operators were included in the first part of the study. While the work was performed, some anthropometric leswere measured and the dimensions of the ... working place were determined. Statistically significant relationships were established between the angle of head rotetion and the angle under which the text was laid on the table by the VDU operators, between the distance medium height of the keyboard-elbow and the angle upper arm-forearm, and between the height of the seat and the inclination of the neck. The individual problems of the VDU operators were discussed through the questionnaire. The problems in the neck and the right arm are of a higher rank if the angle under which the text is laid by the VDU operators is larger. The problems in the right hand and in the upper arm are more pronounced at increased distance between the umedium height of the keyboard and the elbow. The second part of the study mainly deals with the electromyographic analysis of muscles underlined in the first part. After isometric muscle standardization was worked out, the electric muscle power of the right trapezius of the six VDU operators during work was measured: Statistically significant differences between the ergonomic and non-ergonomic working places were established in the electric muscle power expressed as a percentage of the maximum required isometric muscle power, and in the force torque expressed as a percentage of the maximum of the torque.
