Parametric approach to seismic vulnerability evaluation of existing buildings [Elektronski vir]

New parametric approach for the assessment of seismic vulnerability of existing buildings has been developed, based on the previously collected parameters of seismic resistance of existing masonry ...buildings. Using this methodology, the seismic resistance of several fire stations in the area of Ljubljana has been estimated. Mechanical properties of materials, amount and distribution of structural elements, weight of the building and eccentricity level, as well as the amount of cracks and other damage, were used as the input parameters. The main output parameter was the seismic resistance coeffiecient for the weakest direction of the structure, while the maximum effective ground acceleration or maximum seismic coefficient, which the building under consideration can resist, have been determined by taking into consideration either Eurocode 8 or National Seismic Code seismic resistance verification procedures, respectively.
