  • Parameter identification of human body joint characteristic [Elektronski vir]
    Krašna, Simon ...
A procedure for identification human joint and segment characteristics for the purpose of traffic accident simulation is presented. The occupant is modeled as a multibody dynamical system. The human ... body segments are represented as rigid bodies, which are interconnected by spherical and revolute joints. The segment and joint characteristics are of great importanceregarding occupant dynamics during the impact. The joints typically have some motion range, stiffness and damping that can differ between individuals. The human joint parameter identification task is formulated as a nonlinear mathematical programming problem in which the stiffness and damping characteristics are defined as design variables. The objective is to minimize the difference between the occupant mathematical model response and the occupant kinematic response during impact simulation. The problem is solvable using proper optimization methods. To obtain the acceleration time history of the occupant, a sled test facility for low-velocity impact testing is used. Geometry and inertia properties of segments are determined using a computer tomography imaging procedure with 3D reconstruction.
