  • Racking tests of sound insulated clt wall elements with angle bracket connections [Elektronski vir]

    In the paper, the results of an experimental campaign on 13 full size sound insulated CLT wall specimens with insulated steel-angle brackets as connections are presented. The aim of the study was to ... analyse the seismic behaviour of the system and additionally to study the influence of sound insulation bedding under the wall on the seismic response. Elastomer bedding is already in use in construction of timber buildings as sound insulation; it is, however, due to its unknown influence on the seismic behaviour of the system limited to non-seismic areas. A comparison of the lateral load-bearing capacity, displacement capacity, ductility and stiffness obtained in racking tests for uninsulated specimens and specimens with four types of insulation bedding is presented. Furthermore, the level of vertical load, position of angle brackets and the loading protocol in terms of rate were varied for some tests. The results show that the elastomer bedding does not influence the load-bearing capacity of the wall system but reduces its stiffness and therefore increases its displacement capacity.
