Simulation based OWAS analysis of work postures in the assembly industry

The paper presents an ergonomically designed workplace in an assembly hall created by the simulation-based OWAS (Ovaco Work Analysing System) method. Various body posture observation analyses were ...carried out in a Slovenian medium-size company. Typical for assembly workplaces are dynamical loadings which demand extensive treatment. It is therfore recommendable to use computer simulations in the planning stage. Computer analyses can replace complicated and cost-intensive tests for fitting-up workplaces. With ergonomic workplaces optimised in the planning stage we can avoid time consuming optimization processes during the initial operation stage of manufacturing and related costs for additional changes.
