  • Advanced computational procedures for nonlinear static and dynamic analysis of shell-like structures [Elektronski vir]
Brank, Boštjan ; Lavrenčič, Marko, 1992-
We discuss several advanced low-order finite element formulations for nonlinear analysis of shells. The formulations are based either on ANS (Assumed Natural Strain) concept, EAS (Enhanced Assumed ... Strain) concept, Hellinger-Reissner functional, Hu-Washizu functional, or on a combination of these approaches. Numerical comparison of formulations was done by testing elements accuracy, robustness and speed. Numerical experiments show that some formulations are more robust than others and some are faster since they allow for large load increments. As for dynamics, we discuss several implicit time-stepping schemes with numerical damping in the high-frequency range that fall into the Generalized energy-momentum method. A snap-through example is chosen for numerical comparison of schemes.
