Integrated process synthesis of large-scale chemical processes

The paper presents the combned conceptual-rigorous approach to the problem of energy integrated process synthesis of large-scale chemical processes. The process design is composed of three main ...steps, i.e. the simulation step, the conceptual design step (extended pinch design method, determination of prmising modifications, their assessment, selection of the most promising modifcation) and the rigorous design step (structural and papareter optimization). The proposed method was tested using a case study of a simple ammonia production where the marginal cost decrease of 1,2% has been achieved compared to the base process design.
