  • Laparoscopic colposuspension
    Korel, M...
This article describes the technique of a laparoscopic colposuspension which uses a Gore-TexR Patch for the elevation of the endopelvic fascia. The Patch is fixed to the Cooper Ligament by titanium ... hernia staples. Compared with suture fixation a major advantage of this technique is that the need of space in the Cavum Retzii is minimal. For the use of the stapler it is sufficient toprepare two small channels beginning from the lateral side of the umbilical arteries down to the endopelvic fascia. 18 patients were included in this study, 15 of them had been evaluated. In 3 patients the operation was finishedby laparotomy. Due to a large cystocele 3 patients had an additional anterior colporrhaphy. After a mean follow up of 7 months 14 of 15 patients were subjectively cured (cure rate 93%), one patient was substantially improved. The degree of subjective contentness with the result of the operation was high. There were 3 bladder injuries in the beginning of the study. This high rate is presumably due to the learning curve. Perioperatve morbidity was very low. To assess the definitve value of this modified laparoscopic colposuspension technique it is necessary to wait for the longterm results.
