Experimental study of Diesel and alternative fuels [Elektronski vir] : plenary paper

The paper deals with experimental analysis of diesel, biodiesel and waste cooking oil to be employed as alternative fuel. The fuel spray characteristics of droplet size and the penetration lenght ...were investigated on the basis of spray photos. The diesel, biodiesel and waste cooking oil were tested on a fuel injection system which consists of a rotational pump and a pintle nozzle. The most important characteristics, like injection pressure, squareness, mean injection rate, injection duration and fuelling were tested for different mixtures of waste cooking oil and diesel fuel. To determine the influence on harmful emission the engine Golf 1,6d with a prechamber was tested. From the experimental results the most suitable mixture of waste cooking oil and diesel fuel was determined with respect to fuel spray, injection and engine characteristics.
