Theoretical starting points: Communication becomes effective when the recipient interprets the message in the same way as it is implied by the sender. Therapeutic communication is the most prominent ...and demanding complex component of the profession of a nurse between nursing care providers and patients. Through therapeutic communication, we ensure the highest possible quality of nursing care, since the nurse is involved in the personality growth and development of the patient. In terms of providing nursing care, we use therapeutic communication to nurture, care, give information, soothe patients, relatives, console, thereby reducing fear and anxiety, answering questions and asking. Effective use of therapeutic communication helps maintain dignity and positive acceptance of the examination and disease. Method: The research was based on a quantitative method of research. The primary resources were obtained through a survey questionnaire. In the theoretical part of the thesis, on the basis of the literature we read, the method of description explains the basic concepts. We also used a comparison method to compare different sources. With the compilation method, we summarized the sources in the thesis. Secondary sources were collected through a review of credible sources and professional and scientific articles from Slovenian and foreign authors (Health Care Review) and Internet sources (COBISS database, Google Scholler, Springer Link, CINAHL and ProQuest). Results: We have demonstrated the benefits of using therapeutic communication in outpatient endoscopic procedures in gastroenterology through the study itself. We demonstrated how therapeutic communication has a great impact on the course of endoscopic investigations. Respondents expressed great satisfaction through the use of therapeutic communication of nurses. Discussion: Therapeutic communication in outpatient endoscopic procedures in gastroenterology is an area that is underdeveloped. It is a field of work that is quite stressful for both patients and health professionals. The benefits of using therapeutic communication are proven by the highest possible level of quality health care services, and at the same time the need for professional education of nursing teams is not only good for patients, but also for healthcare providers.
